Quite thrilled and surprised to learn, “The Geminis”, my story in Chiral Mad 2, has made the Bram Stoker Awards Preliminary Ballot in the short fiction category. The story is a Lovecraftian tale about a man and woman who make music together, who are in love, but do not act on it. The music they create seems to pacify some rather nasty things that lie dormant in the mountain they live on. I always kid that, if I had to pitch this, I’d say it’s, “putting the ‘love’ into ‘Lovecraft’.” Below? A picture that was taken near where the story takes place, and that captures how darkness can eclipse the sun if you look just right.
Hat’s off to editor Michael Bailey, who urged me along and took the story for Chiral Mad 2.
